On the north face of Shoal Point, the harbour side, large and medium size keystones are worked into the large cast-in-place arches. Each keystone is a visual story of the building motif.

These life size ladies of ocean mythology look down and out at the busy harbour activities. Using the architectural shape of balcony supports and stylizing the mermaid form, a unique approach is taken to form and function.

Twenty-eight of these flowing brackets hold up balconys on the inner harbour (north) side of Shoal Point. This studio closeup shows the level of detail and care that is incorporated in this element.

Crab lights shine down on the entrance ramp on the south face of Shoal Point. As you walk along, there are decorative elements both large and small to explore.

The main entrance drive through arch is flanked on each side by guardian Ladies of the Sea. Their hair transforms into sea creatures and Marine Birds. A unique greeting to a special building.

The cormorant banding is a ribbon of precast decoration that wraps around all three phases of Shoal Point. It was designed as part of the building cladding, to enclose each floor slab edge. The bird design is an Escher inspired pattern.

Where air meets water, the leaping fish and raven brackets converse at the eighth floor of Shoal Point.

The eight floor of Shoal Point carries another very unique feature: the "Leaping Fish". Inspired by gothic architecture and the effective use of chimeras and gargoyles, these stylized fish leap into space at each point where the building extends out.

The penthouse, on Phase One of Shoal Point, incorporates many of the lower floor design elements: precast columns and capitals, starfish medalions and bird banding. Note along the banding of the lower brick wall there are precast vent covers.

Taking the architectural form of a standard balcony support and merging it with stylized sculpture, these large, unique birds mark the transition from ocean to the marine skies on the eighth floor of Shoal Point.

The marine man adds the mythical touch to the upper balconies of Shoal Point. Cast as 36" x 36" panels to clad the upstands on selected balconies, the Marine Man looks out over the harbour landscape.

From the apex of the arches, a stylized fish forms the keystone on Shoal Point. The textures and design are consistent with those used throughout all three phases of the building. This is a photo of one of the smaller keystones before being installed.
